What the transverse plane is and why add it to your personal training / training routine.
The transverse plane is an imaginary line dividing the body into superior and inferior parts (or top and bottom). It’s one of the three anatomical planes of the body, which describe how each body part moves on its axis. So why are transverse plan exercises important? It's a great way to improve strength, balance, and prevent injury. Squats, lunges, pressing and more are all great movements to have in your workout routine. However, adding in the twisting or transverse motions will help your overall strength and core. This will help improve your overall workout. See below for a few examples of transverse exercises from personal trainer Tommy. Remember to always get cleared for exercise from your doctor if you are starting a new exercise program.
